Native American Made Sterling Silver Post Earrings with Malachite.

The Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral and was used as a mineral pigment in green paints from antiquity until about 1800. The pigment is moderately lightfast, very sensitive to acids and varying in color. The Malachite is more common than azurite and has copper deposits around the limestone the source of the carbonate.
